Weekly Formative Assessments
7SSG5002 Practising Social Research Coursework Assignment 2
Module Syllabus 7SSG5002: Practicing Social Research
In addition to the formally assessed coursework, we also expect that each week you will complete a one page ‘formative’ essay prior as preparation for the workshop discussion. The topic of each weekly formative essay is described in a separate weekly guide to readings for the course that is available on KEATS. Although these essays will not be formally marked and will not count towards your grade for the module, we do require you to write and submit them in to your tutor to ensure compliance and enable tutors to monitor what groups are learning from the lectures and small group discussions. Written comments will be provided on first formative essay, to help you get calibrate expectations and enable your tutor to identify at an early stage any problems with writing skills. Where these are identified the module convener may contact the students concerned and put them in contact with the English Language Centre who will be able to offer support. Each tutor will explain her/his policy for reading and commenting on the weekly essays subsequently.
