Cultures of the World: Diversity and Development
Essay with an interview 25%
You’re going to write a short essay about 4 pages long about a person who has a different cultural background than the mainstream English or French –speaking Quebecois. This could be a person who is related to you or a friend – possibly a friend of a friend – but not a total stranger. It can be, for example, an Italian grandfather but also be, for example, someone who is Anglophone but migrated from Ireland or U.S. to Canada (or a Francophone from France). You have already written the interview questions and maybe you have also done the interview already.
For the essay you also need to give background information about the country/culture that the person you’ll interview comes from. So you need to find articles or books for that information. More instructions are coming further down this document.
For the write-up – I want you to use at least 5 concepts that we have learned here in class. You ‘re going to use the concepts in the essay (not explain them) and you should also highlight or underline the concepts so that I can easily find them. List of concept will be given in the end of this document. Anth 381 Diversity & Development Essay
