Effective Policy Assignment: Social workers may not agree with the policies. Social workers may see the policy as unethical. Social workers may think the policy hinders their client. Most social workers will comply with the policy even if they do not agree with it. They would not want to get into trouble. Most policies implemented are driven by political alliances and principles. Those in charge of government agency are mostly appointed. They will support the opinion of those who appointed them (Jansson, 2018, p. 462). Those making policy are not direct online workers. Programs and funding are influenced by those in a political position. Those in political power also get to appoint the judges. Judges have power to make decisions on petitions brought before them (Jansson, 2018, p. 462).

Ethical issues they may confront.

People have right to self-determination. These polices may try to control people and attempt to make them conform to social norms. Those in authority may try and force people to comply. Social workers may feel certain policies are too rigid and there is no flexibility. Social workers may feel the policy is bias against their client. The policy may not take in consideration extenuating circumstances. Social workers may believe the policy discriminates against their clients.Effective Policy Assignment

Social workers can implement policies they feel are against social work values.

Unfortunately, social workers work in environments where they have no control over policy. Social workers are expected to comply with agency and government policies. Many of those in political office are not social workers. Many politicians have professional careers such as business and law. Social workers are to advocate for policy changes. Social workers should attempt to influence policy changes. Social workers can be most effective if they hold political office. Social workers have the direct experience and knowledge when it comes to these policies. More social workers are needed in political offices at all levels (Lane, & Humphreys, 2011, p. 242). Unless social workers make their voices heard changes will not occur. Social worker should be active in promoting the needs of their clients. Social worker should work to educate the public and politicians about the social policy changes and needed resources.
