Effects of Yoga Essay
Yoga is an integration of mental, physical and spiritual practices with an Indian origin whose primary goal is to bring calmness and relaxation to the body. As much as the act is of Indian origin, it has gained massive recognition across the globe over the past centuries. For this reason, many studies are now focused on evaluating the importance that yoga has on human beings. In the midst of these studies, it has been acknowledged that indeed yoga has a considerable impact on the human body and soul. Examining the effects of yoga on its users will thus be informative, educative and it will also enable people to give more value and attention to yoga practices.
One of the significant effects of yoga is that it has been found to be essential in helping people manage and control anxiety, stress, and depression. Yoga practices usually involve low impact activities that aim at strengthening and balancing all sections of the body. It is a form of physical therapy that is accompanied by meditation (Brandon & Casey, 2018). The exercises are done on a routine basis. The combinations of all the relaxation processes resultantly refresh the body, soul, and mind which promote replenishment hence reducing stress levels, worry, anxiety and depression.
As mentioned earlier in the discussion, yoga is a form of physical therapy. As the years have gone by, the health system is adopting therapeutical intervention methods in the treatment of various health conditions instead of medical approaches. Research has shown that given that yoga is highly efficient in the reduction of stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue and even pain due to its meditation process, the practice is crucial in improving the recovery process for patients suffering from conditions like cancer, high blood pressure, schizophrenia and even Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Additionally, yoga has a positive impact on mood since the process helps individuals have full control over their emotions. During the yoga exercises, chemicals referred to as endorphins often termed as feel-good chemicals are released in the brain, and the result is that it enhances a happy mood of the individual practicing yoga (Michaela, 2017). Besides, since the exercise is often accompanied by meditation, it gives a person the ability to control their attitudes and their emotions naturally improve. This effect makes it impossible for yoga users to frequently portray mood swings, unlike persons who do not engage themselves in yoga exercises entirely.
In conclusion, it is factual to say that the current world has chaos and disastrous events that are likely to affect the well being of human beings mentally, physically and emotionally. The significant rise in health conditions such as stress, high blood pressure, and depression is enough evidence to show that people need systems that will help them cope with these conditions. Given that yoga includes meditation and physical exercises in its patterns, it is unmistakable that the practice has an enormous impact on health and emotional well being of its users. It contribution in the management of disease like high blood pressure and cancer as a physical therapy intervention further shows how productive and beneficial yoga is to the human body and soul.
