ENG 11011 Final Exam The final English 110/111 exam is a two-hour essay exam given during the final exam period. You will be
given a reading a few weeks before the end of the semester which we will discuss in class. On the day of the
exam, you will be given a second reading on the same topic as the first reading, and you will be asked to
write an essay that discusses an issue presented in the two readings. In your final exam essay, you must
discuss and cite according to MLA format information from the two articles as well as express your
own ideas and present your analysis in standard expository essay format. The essay should have a
clearly stated thesis in the introductory paragraph that is supported with unified, coherent, well-
developed body paragraphs that cite evidence from the two articles, or readings using MLA format.
Your final exam essay should demonstrate your ability to correctly summarize, paraphrase, quote, and
use MLA in-text citation, plus use standard academic English with adequate control of grammar and
mechanics to clearly communicate. You may write an optional practice final exam essay before the formal
final exam. If you have completed the assignments for the class correctly, you have been practicing the skills
required for the final exam essay throughout the semester. I will evaluate your final exam essay according to
the English Department grading standards below. ENG 11011 Final Exam
