Then develop an argument as to whether this firm’s operations represents the actions of a socially responsible company. You should think about the relationship the company has with its customers and other stakeholders. You should develop an argument to detail whether these companies have a positive influence on society, or are they an example of a company neglecting their social responsibilities.

Critical Examination (50marks)
Thorough critical discussion and evaluation of all relevant themes linked to the chosen topic. Debate illustrating the use research and theory supported by quotes and references avoiding superficial analysis. Students should structure the discussion appropriately to include a full introduction and conclusion developed from the main body of the essay.
Application (30 marks)
Students should use contemporary sources and apply up to date examples wherever possible. Where applicable examples should be confined to the company and sector you are investigating but you may go beyond this if it helps you illustrate your point.
Presentation (20 marks)
Correct referencing, appropriate essay structure. Strong flow of argument
This gives you a constant reference point of the question you are answering.
A brief introduction into the topic(s) that will be discussed in the essay.
E.g. This assignment will address the topic of……. and will address the literature to determine whether…..
This is where discussions, evaluations and analysis takes places and where the essay topics are addressed and the essay question answered. You need to apply theory and demonstrate an understanding of the issues.
You should support claims with the literature using appropriate referencing e.g. The work of Parker (2011) reveals that………
Ensure that you keep on track with answering the question you have been asked, e.g. How does what I have discussed affect the actual question asked?
You may also want to include examples to illustrate the argument you are making.
This is where you summarise the findings of your essay and recap on the main points which have already been discussed. You can also reiterate the answer to the essay question
Nothing new should be introduced here – it should already have been discussed in the main body.
