Question 1: (50 pts.)
One measure of a literary text is the extent to which it engages both the intellect and the emotions. You might want to review the initial content folders for terms.
Using the intellect and emotion criteria, identify the work you consider to be the best literary example in the course. Identify the following:
1. Genre, e.g. True Crime, literary journalism, fiction, etc.
a. Explain the primary characteristics of the genre you have indicated
2. Theme: What you consider to be the theme—be sure to include textual support
a. If there is an epigraph, be sure to include the epigraph as it relates to the theme

Question 2: (50 pts.)
Giovanni’s Room is a novel that incorporates crime, but it is not True Crime. In Cold Blood is True Crime. The Good Nurse is non-fiction, True Crime Literary Journalism.
What connection(s), thematic or otherwise, common to these works do you see? Are they equally able to raise ethical issues and influence social policy? Explain. Be sure to include textual support.
