GWS 358 U.S. Third World Feminism Assignment We have studied major texts and concepts that represent the enduring project called “U.S. third
world feminisms” across such varied forms as poetry, essays, letters, short films, novels, GWS 358 U.S. Third World Feminism Assignment
manifestos, and visual art. In particular, we highlighted three major anthologies: This Bridge
Called My Back; But Some of Us Are Brave; and Colonize This! We focused on themes that
emerge from the anthologies, theories and practices, and the editors’ particular visions and
contexts for these works. For the final project you will become the editor to your own feminist
anthology. In the spirit of feminist praxis, collaborations in pairs and trios are welcome.
The final project is both a written essay and a creative editing project where you center your
own interests, questions, interventions, style, and creativity. Referring to the anthologies we
examined, the completed project should include the following main ingredients and the
editor’s letter should address some of the questions that follow:
