Personal essay Description
Use your skills practice logs, reading logs, in-class writing, and error logs to help you write your essay. Write an essay answering ONE of the following questions.
Option A Write a personal essay about an event you anticipated hopefully but that did not fulfill your expectations, incorporating an explanation of your disappointment into your account, as Angelou does.
In one of your body paragraphs, compare and/or contrast your experience to Angelou’s, using the proper format for introducing a piece of writing. OR
Option B Drawing on your memories of a friend or family member, write an essay about a problem that a person had and its effect on your life. In one of your body paragraphs, compare and/or contrast your experience to Sanders’, using the proper format for introducing a piece of writing. personal essay OR
Option C Write a compare and contrast essay of the two versions of Sojourner Truth’s essay “Ain’t I a Woman.” What similar elements are included in both versions? What significant differences are there? Explain why one version is better than the other or why both are equally important.
Remember to use the proper format for introducing a piece of writing. Instructions (your essay structure will be based on these bullet points): • Write an introduction with a hook and a thesis that answers the prompt you choose. • In a fully developed essay of a minimum of four pages, respond to the prompt, giving specific examples. • Write a conclusion. Make sure your rough draft is in the following format: Times New Roman, 12-pt. font, double-spaced, with your name, my name, the class number personal essay (ESL-122A) and the date (18 September 2019) all in the top left-hand corner (double-spaced).
