Remember the Titans movie review
Remember the Titans is a drama film, talking about a town called Virginia. In Virginia, high school football was very much valued and seen as a way of life. It meant so much to the people that they even celebrated each and every game more than they did Christmas or any other national holiday. It was what brought them together and the people were proud of it. That only meant that a lot of strong emotions were involved, which came along with recognition. 1971 was the highlight, but it also saw a local school board being forced to integrate an all-black school with an all-white school, something that was new and put the foundation of football that they had built for so long on the test.
Coach Boone, being the main character, was faced with an ethical dilemma from the moment he was offered the job to be the head coach at T.C Williams. Among the people who had applied for the job, another coach, Yoast, had stayed there the longest and had been with the boys since they were young. Coach Boone turned down the offer, believing that coach Yoast was the right man for the job. He had two choices, to take up the job and do what he knew best, or leave it to Yoast because he believed that it was the right thing to do.

It was not until the Black elders approached him that he thought about the consequences of his actions, and decided to take up the job. According to the leaders, if a white man took up the job, the black players would be discriminated upon. Coach Boone had a chance of going in and changing everything for the better.
Even after accepting the job, he still felt that coach Yoast had done so much for the team, and even though he had started applying for jobs elsewhere, he gave him the position of defense coach, s that he could still be around to help the boys. As for Coach Boone, it was only fair that he accomplished what made him take the job in the first place, which was to end racial discrimination and have the team work together despite the color of their skin.

In order to achieve that, he decided to be tough on everyone, the blacks and the whites as a whole. He did not have any favorites. His style of coaching was a very different form that one of coach Yoast, since it was “in-your-face.” Coach Yoast’s style was more laid back. Coach Boone also demanded full effort from each and every player. He wanted to give them something in common, which was shared experience, gotten from tremendous rigorous training, under the watch of a coach who did not discriminate. They were also not allowed to board the buses unless they were in a mix, meaning a team. Coach Boone knew that the board had planned on firing him as soon as he lost a game, and he was determined to do everything in his power not to lose. He also understood that winning was not only about the games but also the character and the men that he would produce out of the boys.

I would recommend what Coach Boone did because he first understood what the coaching job meant to coach Yoast, and was willing to keep him around and prove to him that he is also good at his job. He also went beyond football matches, by fighting racism and producing a better team than the one he had found.
