You will be asked to respond to the question below by focusing on your set text (Rainbow’s End) and ONE text of your own choosing(Which is THE SAPPHIRES MOVIE)
You must select textual references /images from both texts that will support your comments in regard to the question
These textual references/images only can be placed on a googleslide.
You will refer to these from the projector screen in your classroom during your presentation
The Question you must address :
Through the telling and receiving of stories, we become more aware of ourselves and our shared human experiences.
Explore this statement with close reference to your prescribed text (Rainbow’s End) and ONE text of your own choosing.
NO NOTES CAN BE INCLUDED IN YOUR PROJECTIONS –ONLY THE TEXT REFERENCES(‘quotes’) THEMSELVES.
Your projections will be checked before you begin speaking , and you will forfeit the right to use these projections if there are any notes, script, or commentary present.
***NO PALM CARDS WHATSOEVER MAY BE USED.***
Try to speak as fluently as you can, but remember it is your understanding and support of that understanding that we will reward – normal conversational flaws will be expected , so just speak to the class. This task most resembles a job interview or a group presentation at university – prepare by making sure you understand your view of the question and your ‘evidence’ for that view (the text references you have chosen).
Do not attempt to memorise a fully scripted response;
only memorise :
a) a statement that shows your view of the question (your introduction)
b)the handful of points you wish to make to argue your view of the question – these are the same as ‘topic sentences’ in a written response. Then use the brief textual examples ( between 3 and 5 references for each text will be appropriate) to prove your point.
Do not waste time reading out the whole reference from the screen; refer to the context of the reference and the language techniques in the reference and how this reinforces the point you are making.
Do rehearse your presentation so that you are comfortable with the time limit.
In this task you will be marked on :
• Your ability to express understanding of complex ideas about human experiences represented in texts
• Your ability to present a skilful response with detailed analysis of well-chosen textual references from the prescribed text
• Your ability to speak clearly in a coherent and sustained response using language appropriate to audience, purpose and context
