As research for that essay, the class is being asked to create an annotated bibliography (called Essay Two) using sources that could be used for Essay Three. The choice of the sources is up to the students, and it is fine to use the ones introduced to the class in Week Three. No need to re-invent the wheel if its rolling along nicely. Students work will be graded based on the 8th ed. MLA correctness of the citations and the complete annotations based on the key features of chapter 15 and found on pages 191-192. Annotated Bibliographies should be organized following the boxes at the bottom of page 195 with the exception of the first box “State scope” which should be skipped. There is no need to introduce your annotated bibliography with this information. Do not use the boxes on page 196. There is an example annotated bibliography on pages 190-191 although this examples’ paragraph are likely longer than yours will be. Try to make each of your sources about half a page total using double spacing. If anyone makes an appointment with the writing center to discuss this assignment, make sure to take a copy of these directions, the textbook, and a copy of any assignments previously completed in Week Three or Four as a guide for the tutors. There are many varieties of annotated bibliographies and the writing center will need to know which one of them is expected for English 1301.BPX.
