Capture digital images and upload to the computer.
Research a photographer and evaluate his or her work.
Begin taking shots
Now that you are familiar with your digital camera, begin taking shots. Just shoot anything that looks interesting to you. We recommend not setting your compression to the highest or lowest setting. You probably don’t need the best quality (since you probably won’t blow these photos up to print), and you don’t want to use the lowest quality because you will notice a loss in resolution. Something in the middle should be good.
Shoot many photos (50-100 is a good number). Try shooting the same object from different angles. See which one looks the best. The idea is to shoot many photos; you are much more likely to get some good ones if you take enough.
Upload your favorite shots onto your computer. Get opinions from your friends and family to see which photos they like best. In a one-page Word document, describe some of the objects you photographed and discuss the feedback you received from your friends and family about your favorite shots. What did your friends and family have to say about the photos they liked best? What did your friends and family not like about the photos, if anything? How might you take their feedback into consideration the next time you go to shoot photos?
Discuss a photographer
Choose ONE photographer and discuss his or her work. This will be completed in a four- to five-page Word document to be sent to your instructor. Include some examples of the photographer’s work (these photos will take up some of your page requirement).
Remember, once you have chosen a track, you must stick with it.
Track 1: A Word document containing a one-page discussion of the objects you photographed and the feedback you received from friends and family about the photos.
Track 2: A Word document containing a four- to five-page discussion of a photographer’s work and photos.
